Little Legacy is an open world, procedurally generated fantasy RPG.
Gameplay Elements:
Near Infinite Worlds - Last we checked, it'd take you somewhere around 600 years to walk halfway across the map. I mean, don't hold us to this because we don't have that much time to test it! You get the idea though - you're not gonna run out of space to play.
Persistent Worlds - Okay, you've made a character, done some adventuring, but Mr Man isn't living up to your expectations. You've made him stupid but lucky, and are starting to realise only being able to shout at everyone isn't how you wanted to play the game. So, you start a new character - and whilst you're playing as him, your old character will still exist in the world. He won't be off slaying gods or adventuring too hard, but he'll be there. And if you find it appropriate to sacrifice him, well, that's your call.
Magical Worlds - The worlds you create in Little Legacy have been sprinkled with a rather generous serving of fairy dust. Magic plays a huge part of the gameplay in Little Legacy. The flora you encounter in the wild might have it's own magical properties, and you should feel free to abuse that how you see fit. Found a tree which increases the fertility of all the plants around it? Why not cut it down, grow some more, and start churning out potatoes so fast that... you have too many potatoes to deal with.
Destructible Environment - Everything in Little Legacy has a health value - and we all know the old saying "that which has a health value can be needlessly destroyed". Or something, we might be paraphrasing. The point we're trying to get at, is that there are no limitations. If someone in town has been a little rude to you, you have the power to obliterate them, their families, their house and even the town itself if you see fit (we'd do the same, don't worry).
Towns - The thing with a lot of procedurally generated games, is that after a while it can begin to feel quite lonely. You're out in the wilderness on your own, scraping by to survive. So, we've done a bit of smarty pants coding behind the scenes, and thrown in a load of people and towns for you to play with. You'll be able to buy a house (if building one isn't your thing), settle in and potentially make some friends. Do a bit of trading, maybe give a couple of gifts. If you're nice enough, maybe some of the townsfolk would be up for adventuring with you!
Gods - The worlds you create in Little Legacy will have their own history, and their own gods who inhabit them. The gods in Legacy are those ‘pesky interfering’ types you hear about in stories. Not all of them are bad, and not all of them are good - but all of them will have an impact on the game. The gods are immensely powerful people who exist in the game. They are not just legend, and they are not immortal. Godhood could be yours if you’re able to harness the power and skill required to kill one - but if you fail..
Crafting - We’ve designed the crafting to take advantage of all the magical effects and properties that you might find in the world. If you manage to find a funky tree which has healing properties, that property will be applied to anything you create from it. Think houses that heal themselves, think artsy handmade wooden armour that’s slowly filling your health back up, think magical everything!
Live how you want - We’ve tried to create Little Legacy to be as non-linear as possible. There’s no over arching story, no scripted sequences and nothing you ‘have to do’. It’s an open world, full of possibility; it’s up to you what you decide. Live as a nomad, a farmer, a mayor, a warrior, a god, or anything in between. You decide.
Monsters - There’s a heap of monsters and beasts we want to stuff the world full of. You’ll be getting all of your usual fantasy creatures, and a whole load of particularly interesting ones straight from our imaginations. They will all fit seamlessly in with the world (imagine a giant stomping through a town, bulldozing everything as it stumbles through someone’s house). Each different lifeform will have it’s own influence on how you progress in the world. Bigger, badder enemies will drop better loot. Softer, squishy enemies will be good for farming and resource collection. You'll be able to craft items that can give you specific, powerful advantages; how about crafting a skull helmet so that Skeletons aren't aggressive?
Magic - Magic plays a huge part in Little Legacy. There’s magic for everything. We’ve got magic that goes in the environment (to make the areas more unique and exciting), magic that goes on items, and magic that you can cast at will! The magic isn’t all combat focuses - it’s about the world too. Crops taking too long to grow? Cast a spell that increases fertility around you. Accidentally set your house on fire? Why not summon a rainstorm and douse it (but next time, do try to be more careful). Magic is also extremely powerful - eventually allowing you to obliterate towns, people, enemies and gods. Everything in the game can be destroyed, and we want to give you tons of ways to do it.
Your character - Your character in the game isn’t just a slightly chubby, average looking person you tell to move around. Your character is a person, and has things they’re good and bad at. When you create your character, you’ll be able to change your stats based on how you want to play the game - and these stats will influence what you’re able (and not able) to do. Making yourself super strong might mean that you can break down people’s doors, intimidate them and throw their stuff around. Making yourself super dumb will probably end up with you shouting your own name at people because you’re a little too thick to converse with them.
