The main character, Henry Wood, an experienced journalist, along two other troop members, General Samuel Miller and a young boy called Jacob Baker, were given the mission to go to an up to that time unidentified village said to be called "Hegis" and to carry out reconnaissance of this unknown place, with the intention of proofing these myths wrong.
Their plan failed.

Legends say that the natives of Hegis are obsessed with satanic thoughts and rituals. One of those Rituals is supposed to be cannibalism.
