• Fixed various resolutions that, before this fix, resulted in a tiny bird view rendering of the dungeon view and stats.
• All listed resolutions below (some of them worked before) have now been re-tested & verified: 1920 x 1200, 1920 x 1080, 1680 x 1050, 1600 x 1200, 1600 x 900, 1366 x 768, 1360 x 768, 1280 x 1024, 1280 x 960,1200 x 800, 1280 x 768, 1280 x 720, 1152 x 864, 1152 x 864, 1024 x 768, 800 x 600
• Fixed a possible graphical/game glitch when using teleporters. A creature could be teleported to the same square as another creature. This is no longer possible.
• The Music did not match the levels after level 4, as the newly created level 5 did not yet have its own preferred tracks mapped. This is now fixed.
• Fire effect on Weapons did not correspond 100% to the description, since the applied effect was random. This is now fixed. To balance this fix, the maximum total damage from a single applied Fire effect has been lowered, but since it is no longer random, there will be high damage anyway, and multiple successfully applied Fire effects can still stack to a huge amount of damage/turn.
• Disease effect on Weapons: Maximum turns were too few to actually have much of an effect. Diseases should last for a LONG time. Max turns have now been raised and the max HP cap percentage ticks down every turn instead of once every 3rd turns, working like a slow poison that constantly lowers max HP cap (to a certain level) for many turns to come.
• Autosave & Restore, at abnormal game exit (crash, etc): If the game exits "abnormally" (should be very seldom, it never happens to me), meaning crash or other than Save/Quit/Exit, it means no SaveGame was created. From this patch, the game now has 1-5 autosaves from the last 50 game turns. When the game is re-started, it will look for a normal SaveGame.inf. If that doesn't exist, it looks instead for an "auto save" file.
• A normal game ends with GameOver or Victory.
• The player does Save & Quit, or Save and Exit to Menu (because in those cases a normal Save-file is created).
• Game button text updated: "Quit" -> "Save & Quit".
• Game button text updated: "Exit to Menu" -> "Save & Exit to Menu"
• Bug fixes:
• If afflicted by blindness, and a monster is targeted, you could not self-target to use Cure/Dispell items. Fixed: Getting "Blind" will now auto-self-target Hero.
• Telekinetic Steal: if you steal an item from an enemy, the item replaced the one you have equipped, even if you had free space in your backpack and, worst of all, the old item got destroyed.
• Fixed: The spell will no longer auto-replace equipped items. Also, the spell needs either 1 free slot in backpack, or the item must be of a worn item type that is currently empty.
• Spectral skill: monsters and Hero could move on outer border with the Spectral skill. This could lead to crashes. Fixed: Outer border is now always a non-walking area.
• Difficulty "Easy": removed trapped items and Elite monsters on level 1-2.
• Difficulty "Medium": removed trapped items and Elite monsters on level 1.
• New Level: The Crypt (level 5)
• New Monsters: Necromancer, Giant, Assassin, Gargoyle, Fallen Angel
• User Defined settings for keyboard commands.
• Spiked Trap could hang the game.
• Close-up view could sometimes "flicker" and display items "halfway".
• Moving the mouse just outside of the World Map panel could sometimes light up the whole Dungeon View.
Lord of the Dark Castle is a casual turn-based retro style roguelike dungeon crawler with elements of strategy in the same dark gothic mood as the Diablo series.
Creator’s Visions & Goals with this game: - Casual, Fast & Easy to get started. Have 30 minutes on the bus/train? Give it a go and see how far you get. If you have a good round and play well, it is possible to beat the game within 1-2 hours. - This is STRATEGIC dungeon crawler - NOT a no-brain-dungeon-brawler! Casual does NOT mean easy! Normal mode is pretty difficult, and you may have to try many times before you win the game. - Big replay value! Every new game is a new experience. Level randomness, monster spawns and different skill choices makes up for lots of variety.
